Goodbye for now...
Sorry to the 2, err 1, or rather nobody that reads this blog anymore. In an act to consolidate, and hopefully turn over a new leaf, I am moving this blog to my myspace account. My Birthday
Yeah, so I'm 24 now. Why did last year pass by so quick? Anyways, I got a new game. World of Warcraft. It's a mmorpg. And I'm paying a subscription. WTF? What next? An SUV? I'm finding myself getting closer and closer to turning into a consumeristic chump every year. But, the game's great. If you have a chance, go buy it. Well worth the money. I'm currently on a rp server called Silverhand with a dark elf hunter called Serafin. So, hopefully sicklecell, I'll see you there. *Wink, wink*

Games...
We bought Half Life 2 last week and all I can say is "Wow". The graphics are amazing. And, surprisingly, unlike the deus ex sequel, This game still has the feel of the original. So, if you haven't bought it, do. It's well worth the money.

Some asshole in a 2003 dodge ram with a brush bar rear-ended us. Hopefully they won't give us too much crap over replacing the car. I still owe on it. We've only had it for 9 months or so. It was our first real accident so I was surprised when the other driver's insurance agent wanted to give us money for the injuries. It didn't really hit me until then.
The rental they gave us for the time being is an 03 Monte Carlo or something like that. I've never been a big fan of domestics. They're just not as solid as imports, in my experience. This opinion hasn't changed with the monte carlo. That, and the thing has got to be, by far, the ugliest car I have ever seen. It's sluggish. Anyways, enough about cars. I'm just going to let n3 deal with it. I'll keep you posted, sicklecell. :)
Oh, and if anybody else actually reads this blog, try neopets. See below entry. I'm addicted. That, and I've only got 2 friends on there. So, in my usual fashion of shameless self promotion, "Be Mai Fren!"

[Link] | Wow, a lot of s**t has happened since I last posted. I quit my job. It was driving me nuts. Not that, in my natural state, I'm not already. I guess it gives me time to devote to school. Had another idiot chronicles episode. I won't go into details here. But, I'll just leave it at people never cease to amaze me with their stupidity.
Oh, and I watched a few new movies. Jersey Girl. Chick flick, but not that bad.
Collateral. Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox. Jamie Fox is extremely underrated.
I, Robot. Will Smith. Really damn good. If you haven't seen it yet, it's definitely worth the highway robbery that we call the theatre.
Open Water. Indie. Disturbing, but good. Wait til it comes out on video, though.
The Village. M. Night Shymalan. Wow, what a shitfest! He's just going downhill now. Slow, and pointless.
And, I got a cat. Finally. Adorable little jet black abbysinian. Called him Pixel. No more than 4 months old, now.

Idiot Chronicles
As I was walking to my office last night, one of my employees comes up to me, distraught. "They caught me!" After asking her what in god's name she was talking about, I finally got it out of her that it was a computer issue. "We tried installing that windows program on all of our computers and the Word Company(trademark?lol) killed our computers." At this point I just want to pull out a switchblade, but I realize I left it in the car. I attempt to back away unnoticed but, alas, it doesn't work. Damn. So, I tell her that Word company is actually in her computer and she should take a bat to it. It would be considered self-defense and the computer would be replaced by a Mac by the computer faery in their sleep. Sort of like the tooth faery. Finally made it away. I won't be going to work on Monday. heh

Games...
I've got quite the array of games I'm working on right now. First of all, Sims ( http://www.maximum3d.com/reviews/sim1.htm ). That one's always on the back burner. It's not really fun, or entertaining for that matter, but it is addicting. Same with Pharaoh ( http://pc.ign.com/articles/162/162061p1.html ). Hmm, what else? Fallout 2 ( http://www.intelligamer.com/rpg/fallout2/fallout2.asp ), Uru(Myst 3... http://www.gamershell.com/reviews_UruReview.shtml ), kill me for saying this but, Amazon Trail(Oregon Trail...), and, umm...I think that's it. Uru, took some time to get used to, but it's actually quite fun. And as for Fallout 2, it's old school but if you haven't had a chance to play it, you should. Immensely entertaining.

More useful life lessons...
How to negotiate a Hostage Crisis
Step 1: Secure the Area
Evacuate all nearby buildings and cover all points of entry to the building.
Step 2: Gather as much intelligence information on your hostage taker as possible.
Find out what drove your hostage take r to this point. Place yourself in the hostage taker's shoes and understand his burdens.
Step 3: Call the phone number of the building or space in which the hostage taker is holding his hostages.
Ask the hostage taker how he is doing, and ask if the "other people there" are all right. (Do not use the word hostage.)
Step 4: Assure the hostage taker that you are not there to hurt him. Try to gain his trust.
Practice "active listening" by encouraging conversation, building a you-and-him-against-the-world relationship, and asking for his proposed solution.
Step 5: Negotiate for a solution by reassuring the hostage taker that you want to give him what he wants.
Step 6: If you hear shots and cannot confirm that anyone is injured, immediately ask for proof of life.
Ask to talk to the hostages and confirm that they are all right. If you hear shots and confirm injury or death, the negotiations are over. Your team should enter the space and end the standoff.
